Edward John Hayes, born August 23, 1944, passed away peacefully in the company of his family on September 20, 2018.
Edward grew up in Chicago and graduated from Notre Dame High School in Niles, IL. He then went on to graduate from St. Ambrose College in Davenport, IA. Following college he completed his Masters Degree in Education at Loyola University, Chicago. Edward began his career as a school administrator, which lasted for over 30 years.
In his free time he enjoyed history, reading, travel, and figurine painting. He most enjoyed spending time with his wife and his four sons.
Edward coached all four of his sons in basketball, soccer and baseball. When not coaching he rarely missed a game. Later in life he found great joy in his seven grandchildren.
Edward is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Marcia (nee Midland); his sons Sean(Peggy), Ryan(Merissa), Quin(Mary); grand children Kate, Meghan, Connor, Molly, Caelyn, Ainsley, and Allison.
Preceded in death by his beloved son Colin; parents Edward and Rosemary (nee Ryan).
Visitation Monday, 3:00P.M.–8:00P.M. at Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320W. Central Road (at Northwest Highway), Mount Prospect.
Visitation Tuesday, 9:00A.M. until time of Funeral Mass 10:00A.M. at St. Raymond de Penafort Church, Elmhurst Rd. (Rt.83) at Lincoln St., Mount Prospect.
Interment Maryhill Cemetery, Niles.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Raymond de Penafort School or St. Viator High School.
